The kings of the franks
The great king of the franks which was know to the history as Charlemagne or Charles the great. Charlemagne spent much of reign fighting Muslims in Spain, the Saxons in the north, the Avars and the Slavs in east, and the Lombards in Italy. He was a succesful emperor who loved battle and conquered much of Europe. Charlemagne was a strong frankish king who could never be defeated, so pope leo III called him for help against rebelliuos nobles in Rome. Charlemagne defeated them greatly and on christmas day the pope showed his gratitude by placing a crown on charlemagne's head declaring him as an 'emperor'. Charlemagne had many achievements that made him a successful monarch. He fought off all invaders, he treid to exercise over his many lands and create a united chritian Europe. He worked closely along with the chatholic church to spread chritianity. He cared for education and hired alcuin of york to run the schools and he set up a curriculum based on latin learning which became educational for medieval Europe. It included the study of grammar, rhetoric, logic, arithmetic, geometry, music, and astronomy. Charlemagne built a great empire and managed to unite the roman, german, and chritian traditions. So basically this powerful monarch had Introduced an efficient system for raising and maintaining an army, he Patronized the arts and learning, and he United Western Europe under a single ruler for the first time since the fall of the West Roman empire.
